Meet with your therapist weekly or biweekly usually at a set time.
In the most popular form of therapy, you and your therapist, will outline your goals, assess progress, and decide when to complete treatment. The commitment, consistency, and attentive nature of this unique relationship facilitates the brain’s rewiring capabilities otherwise known as neuroplasticity that allows for healing through the establishment of safety, trust, and modeling of healthy boundaries.
Couples and family therapy is structured, solution-focused, and time-limited.
Couples and Families typically enter into therapy to resolve conflicts and improve communication. Although there are a variety of styles and modalities, this form of therapy most often follows intentional steps to map patterns of conflict and identify communication problems. The process allows you to relearn how to relate to each other in harmony with compassion and respect and often includes homework between sessions.
Attend group therapy while in your own individual therapy or by itself usually in to focus on a particular area of treatment.
A group environment creates unique opportunities for interpersonal learning and feeling a sense of belonging and acceptance that can broaden your perspective. It can help you in more ways than simply learning the therapeutic content by allowing you to practice new skills without fear of failure or rejection which builds confidence and self-esteem. Participating in a therapeutic process together is also cathartic as you share emotions and instill a sense of hope by experiencing others in different phases of healing.

Experiential therapy is a therapeutic technique that utilizes expressive activities and tools to re-enact, re-experience, and work through past circumstances or relationships. These experiential methods allow the client to use more than just language when addressing and accessing their TRAUMA.
EMDR at Repose & How it can Help You
People with obsessive-compulsive disorder struggle to soothe their fears. EMDR therapy initially helps create a calm or safe place for you to go back to in your mind. EMDR also incorporates a part of CBT into the process by providing appropriate thoughts about your experiences, and in addition, it accesses memories and fears that are stored in the brain as well as the body. It also incorporates bits of EXRP as revisiting past memories and events is a form of exposure. Through EMDR therapy once you have developed the ability to calm yourself and fully accept that your fears are not your fate, your therapist will target the specific obsession or compulsion by noticing how it affects your body as you recall the incidents, memories, fears, or events. Once that is done, the focus of OCD treatment in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut becomes thinking about the future and irrational thoughts associated with it.
You’re a couple in distress. You’ve tried everything. You feel defeated. Rather than throwing in the towel why not try a different approach? A more direct approach that directly targets your brain. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR can help you to quickly target unresolved relationship issues.
EMDR treatment works not only for PTSD, but for Anxiety & Stress too! This occurs by your therapist directing you to make rapid eye movements while imagining distressing scenarios and then guiding you to shift your attention toward more positive thoughts, hence causing anxiety to dissipate. This allows you to be able to, once again, regain control over your emotional state. Want to know more about how EMDR works? Click here. Want to know about Repose’s EMDR offering? Click here.
EMDR can help you move past the experience of betrayal. By reducing the intensity of negative emotions around a negative event, you can allow yourself the opportunity to move. EMDR uses rapid eye movements to engage bilateral stimulation and enable healthy processing of these “stuck” emotions and memories. EMDR also helps you target past trauma, that may be unconsciously influencing how you interact with your partner. EMDR helps to locate these buried wounds and process them. By tending to these past wounds, EMDR is able to help you lessen the feelings and emotions associated with these memories. Interested to know more about EMDR? Click here. FAQ
The first step is to schedule a complimentary consultation with us here. Once you’ve booked your consultation, you will meet with a licensed therapist from our Client Care team who will conduct your clinical intake and assist you in the therapist matching process.
The purpose of the consultation is to understand your reasons for seeking therapy and gather information in the most efficient and sensitive way possible. During your consultation, a member of our Client Care team will listen to you, ask questions, and discuss your options. Based on the information gathered, they will be able to recommend which of our therapists would be well-suited to meet your unique needs.
Therapy is a process that looks different for everyone. While some people are looking for short-term work around a specific problem, others may be looking to heal from deeper wounds. Some clients want a supportive person to help them navigate the ups and downs of their lives without a set time frame. Regardless of the type of support you’re seeking, your therapist and you will discuss treatment goals and collaborate to develop a timeframe to meet those objectives.
For students using Wellfleet or Aetna Student Health insurance, the cost of therapy is that of a standard copay. For all other clients, our rates begin at $200 per session. If you qualify for out-of-network mental health benefits, your insurance provider may reimburse you anywhere from 50-90% of the cost of therapy. We also offer a limited number of reduced-rate appointments through our clinical training program, which start at $45 per session.
Repose is in-network with Wellfleet (serving the student bodies at NYU, School of Visual Arts, and Sarah Lawrence College, among others) and Aetna Student Health (serving the student bodies at Columbia, Pratt, and FIT, among others). We are out-of-network providers with all other insurances and offer support to help you get 50-90% reimbursement.
Somatic Therapy at Repose: What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on the connection between the mind and body. It typically involves techniques such as mindfulness, movement, and body-awareness exercises to help individuals better understand and address the physical and emotional experiences they are having. This approach can be beneficial for individuals dealing with stress, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health conditions. At Repose, we help you develop the language to better communicate with your body.
