Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Group

Our Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group is beginning a new cohort! This skills-based psychotherapy group will help you learn and implement tangible skills such as emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness/assertiveness training, and mindfulness.

The DetailS:

  • When: Tuesdays at 6:00PM EST

  • Where: Held virtually on our secure video platform

  • Who: Led by Jamie Tanzer and Arija Bareikis

  • Investment: For clients with Wellfleet or Aetna Student Health insurance, the cost per group is a standard group therapy copay (starting at just $7 per session). For out-of-network clients, rates are $75 per session and may be reimbursable by your health insurance.

what is dbt?:

DBT, or Dialectical Behavior Therapy, is a type of psychotherapy that combines elements of cognitive behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. DBT emphasizes skills acquisition in areas such as distress tolerance, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness to promote healthy coping mechanisms and improve overall wellbeing.


Participants Will Learn:

  • Mindfulness: Understanding what it is, how it works, and how to build a strong foundation of mindfulness skills.

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills: Improving boundary-setting, communication skills, and self-respect and meeting interpersonal goals.

  • Distress Tolerance: Learning tangible skills to manage stress, self-soothe, and practice acceptance.

  • Emotion Regulation: Understanding the theory of emotion dysregulation and how to identify, describe, and manage emotions effectively.
